Canterbury Christ Church University has been shortlisted as a finalist for the National Student Housing Best Student Broadband award, awarded to the provider achieving the best ratings for broadband satisfaction.

The National Student Housing Awards are based fully on direct feedback from tens of thousands of home and international students across the UK and Ireland. Universities and private accommodation providers can participate in the Awards free of charge through the Global Student Living Index.

Having in-sourced the service in 2007—08, the team have worked hard to enhance the service and add to the user experience and have:

  • Introduced the home-from-home service with self-registration portal using Azure Authentication (SSO).
  • Introduced an enhanced gaming enabled service
  • Made the service Wi-Fi Only.
  • Simplified the technical stack to a single vendor platform.
  • Surveyed extensively and repositioned Access Point’s to improve student experience.

Andy Powell, Head of Infrastructure is “Extremely proud to have lead the Team that has been nominated for the Student accommodation broadband service at Canterbury Christ Church University…. When you add a great technology partner Aruba and a great team – we get noticed.”

Congratulations to Andy and the team at Canterbury Christ Church University and best of luck for the awards!
